The war in Iran

Greets,

I have been out of the loop with news lately, but I have been reading the news articles lately, and its rather depressing reading. At the moment the United States will unilaterally attack (my own estimate) Iran in 6 months with a possible rollback of 4 months. The only way the situation would not happen is if the current government of the U.S. will undergo strong internal pressure. Th EU refuses to be at loggerheads over the issue with the US.

The reason why I am bringing this up is that I made a new years resolution to go to Syria or Lebanon if they would be invaded by the US. It has become even more obvious that it will actually be Iran instead. Now, I am in a bit of a quandary as I do not like the regime in Iran, but I also understand that the political situation in Iran was in slow transition to a more open minded one. With them being blamed of the stereotypes the younger generation wish no longer to be a part of, it has actually led credence to the hardliners in power.

Iran has been pursuing a nuclear program as a part of national pride. The development of new technology and the development of national science has been an ego boosting if the Iranian people. It has strengthened their economy and has been environmentally friendly process of creating power (as industry begins to advance a crucial stepping stone for increasing economic stability is developing nuclear energy, the amount of oil power plants needed would make it prohibitvely expensive).

On the other side, Iran has a long string human rights abuses. The Bahai faith is still being purged from Iran, driving most believers underground or into exile. The Christians are not doing any better.

Going back to my new years resolution there is the matter of I was thinking on adding Iran to my list of "if this place is invaded I am more than willing to help fight", but on the other side, why should I help a regime that I feel to be bad? But on the other side I refuse to lay down and do nothing because for me evil is "when good men do nothing". Should I stay or should I go is in the end the question and there is no right answer, either.

My public,

I have five minutes before I have to rush off and meet some friends so we can go out to the iMax theatre here in Glasgow. Its just been really busy. I walked around the Great Western Street all the way into town, walked through shops looking at clothes and headed back here. My feet are so sore!

Anyways, wanted to say a few words about the clothe situation here. While there are very fine designer shops I was not impressed by the Scottish lack of style. Its like punk but then you do a full U-turn and decide that the French Connection t-shirt goes with all the badges on your designer East German jacket. Its just... not fashion its a polyglot of fashions, which make little to no sense!

I'll try posting some images once I find any of the Glasgow streetscape.

I don't have a digital cemra X-P

-Chrysalis

Not that I could every join! Although there have served at least two women in the legion, in the 1890's and in the 1940's.

I am not enamoured by the uniforms, different as they may be, or by their massive guns as some guys are. I always liked the French Foreign Legion for it puts a lot of stock into the attitude. Breaking starch is not important, its what's between the ears that is being expounded upon.

I know only French Foreign Legioneer, who happens to live in my home town... Haven't talked with him in ages though, but he has always across as a person of impecable integrity and strong moral backbone, its really hard not to respect him. Even though he is in disgustingly good condition. ;)

    <lj:music>The Crystal Method - Bound Too Long</lj:music>

Dear readership, weekend's over!

Hard work and only play makes for a very colorful life. The AC broke down late on Friday, and despite some tinkering by everyone who went past it (including yours truly), temperatures kept on rising to a tropical 37 degrees, with a moisture content around 20%, I have been going through tissues like crazy today, and have a bit of a sore throat, and fever, and my face is puffed up. I hate being sick! grr. Taking some flu medicine would help...

Nice day involves drinking a lot, which I have been doing, almost religiously. I really don't want to think how many water bottles I have emptied in the past few days.

I have only a few more days left of work, and then back to the shoebox of an apartment on Sunday - I haven't looked at the schedule so I can't say any more exactly about it.

Talk back later.

*Big Yawn*

I just got up, *mumble grumble*, I've been working up to 4am... Me tired still. Aanyways... what can I say, cup of coffee, a croissant, and I almost feel human.

Yesterday was my second day at work, it was nowhere near as bad as Friday night, when it was anyways topped. The new law on human slavery and gross pimping was entered into the annals of criminal law on the 1st of August, so of course it was a bit a busy. In October I can be fined a total of 80 euros for hooking, and get a fine if I advertise myself in print or on the internet... All it does change is that big men can have their mistresses, and the little people can't have any fun... Or then we send our images to a dating service abroad that cannot be indicted - easily.

Oh well. Its still all good fun, not often I get to vamp ;)

I always wondered, as this is a public quorum, what happens when you talk about things, you normally do not talk about in polite company, is there censorship even here? And at what point does it run?

Gotta go. Back laters.
